Third generation data cartridge has the highest capacity and best cost per GB of any tape technology, re-inforced by HP’s specification – the industry’s most demanding media standard. New basefilm and coating increases the bit density of media, allowing more data to be saved in the same space. With 704 data tracks compared to 512 tracks for Ultrium 2, the capacity of the tape has doubled. In a HP StorageWorks Ultrium 960 drive, the media supports 160MB/sec transfer rate in compressed mode.
HP Ultrium data cartridges are designed to take full advantage of Ultrium technology and contain features that are exclusive to HP. HP Ultrium data cartridges feature active internal head cleaning, self-diagnostic capacities, cartridge memory and are designed for long life and superior reliability, * 800 GB capacity and 160 MB/sec transfer rate
* Smoother basefilm and smaller magnetic particles means more data in the same amount of tape.
* Increased margin between Early Warning End of Media (EWEOM) and End of Media (EOM).
